Description
We are now looking for a school counselor for the Hisingen 15 school area! The position is a temporary part-time role at 50% until January 1, 2027.
The Hisingen 15 school area consists of Glöstorpsskolan 7-9, Gunnestorpsskolan F-6, and Tångenskolan F-6.
The position is located at Tångenskolan F-3. There are approximately 180 students at the school unit, many of whom also have after-school care with us. You will be one of three school counselors in the school area.
For your information - the school board has decided to close Tångenskolan, Gunnestorpsskolan will become a F-3 school, and Glöstorpsskolan will become a 4-9 school starting in the 2026/2027 school year. The counselor position will move to Gunnestorpsskolan F-3.
Responsibilities
As a counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team and contribute with psychosocial expertise at the organizational, group, and individual levels. In student health, you will collaborate with the school nurse, special educator, psychologist, school doctor, and principal. The team's mission is to work health-promoting and preventive together with the principal and working groups to strengthen children's and adolescents' opportunities to achieve their goals.
Your responsibilities include participating in the school's ongoing values and safety work, support conversations, collaborating with and supporting guardians, consulting with staff, and providing group/class interventions. You will also be responsible for conducting school social investigations and assessments before admission to adapted primary school, as well as follow-up and investigation of student absences. Furthermore, you will collaborate with external actors such as social services, habilitation, UPH, and BUP.
Within the primary school administration, you will participate in professional meetings once a month with counselor colleagues and professional developers, and you will also take part in external supervision. As a new counselor, you will receive an introduction and a mentor.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or equivalent higher education. We prefer candidates with experience as a counselor and experience working with children and youth. You have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing as you document your work in PMO, and you have a good knowledge of the Social Services Act and the Education Act.

As a person, you are stable, empathetic, unpretentious, and secure in your professional role. You have a strong commitment to the psychosocial situation of children and youth and the ability to meet people in different life situations. You facilitate children's storytelling and contribute to highlighting students' participation and perspectives.
You easily build relationships and are professional and respectful in your interactions with students, guardians, and colleagues. You should have an interest in working in a pedagogical environment and in a team with various professions.
In your work, you are structured and clear, with the ability to take initiative and make decisions within the framework of your assignment. You also prioritize your efforts together with the principal and other student health staff. You enjoy working with complex issues, see opportunities, and are creative. You remain calm in difficult situations and can make well-founded decisions under time pressure.
Interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis.
